Colin Baker was born in London on 8th June 1943 and originally studied to become a solicitor before enrolling at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art instead. After graduating, one of his first television roles was in The Roads to Freedom in 1970, and he also appeared in War and Peace and Blake's 7. In 1983 he played Commander Maxil in the Doctor Who serial Arc of Infinity and shortly after he was chosen to be the show's protagonist as Peter Davison's replacement. He made his on screen debut as the Doctor in 1984 and remained in the role until 1986. Since his tenure as the Time Lord he has had roles in Doctors, Hustle and Kingdom and in 2012 he participated in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, finishing in 8th place.
